A personal message from David Livermore at the Cultural Intelligence Center
At its core, cultural intelligence is about our ability to adapt to the unfamiliar—unfamiliar people—unfamiliar situations—and unfamiliar values.
And I don’t know that anything has challenged my cultural intelligence as a leader more than Covid-19. But I wanted to take just a moment and communicate two things to those of you with whom we’re privileged to be partnered with in doing this work around the world.
- We’re still here, and we’re not going anywhere. Our organization, like many, has been hit hard, and we’ve had to make some painful cuts. But we still have a strong team in place, and we’re working diligently on a number of different things.
We know that many of you have priorities elsewhere right now—and we get that. But for those of you who are looking for a partner, even now, in the midst of this unfamiliarity, bear in mind that nearly all of our solutions are available digitally—our assessments, our e-learning courses, books, videos, even our seminars, and workshops. I’ve sometimes been a skeptic as to whether or not you can effectively facilitate learning around topics like cultural intelligence and unconscious bias virtually. But I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the very meaningful interactions that our team has been able to have in a number of the sessions that we’ve been running over the last several weeks.
2. We want to hear from you.
We’re using this season to shore up a number of the products that we have, as well as to develop new applications of cultural intelligence. But we don’t want to do that in a vacuum. So as we develop applications like CQ and its relevance to the hiring process, or things like marketing, and sales, and negotiation, we want to hear from you.
Let us know what kinds of things will help you more effectively do the work that you’re committed to doing.
Cultural intelligence is an ongoing journey for all of us. And we want to be your partner in the midst of this crisis and on the other side of it.
In the meantime, be safe. Be healthy. And let us know how we can help.
