Bringing Cultural Intelligence to the NHS

Overview of the award-winning Barts NHS Trust Cultural Intelligence Programme rollout.

Barts NHS Trust, serving over 2.5 million people in East London with nearly 24,000 staff, implemented a Cultural Intelligence (CQ) programme in March 2022 as part of its inclusion strategy. The initiative, run in partnership with Above Difference, has certified 10 facilitators and trained over 1,400 staff, including 325 senior leaders. The programme has improved staff engagement, team dynamics, and patient care, earning an HPMA Award in 2023. CQ is now being integrated into talent management, recruitment, and career progression across the Trust, with the goal of making it a standard language organisation-wide.

The CQ® Team Packet

Now, more than ever, companies have teams that face challenges due to being multicultural or multigenerational. Teams with Cultural Intelligence can work past these differences and thrive.

We have gathered a collection of Cultural Intelligence team pieces written by social scientist, speaker, author, and CQC co-founder Dr. David Livermore. This manual will help you and your team start their CQ® journeys.
